The second step of the competition was to develope and to build the full scale model house. The model was presentend at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, the Maxxi. The exibition took place from 29-06 to 29-08 2012. It presented different kinds of built dwelling. Every house has shown it’s typical features in order to provide an efficient building. In our case, we provided an efficient house with the features of a typical Italian house of the South characterized by wailing with high thermical inertia and small window in all sides of the building. The roofing component was characterized by wooden roof supported by colums made in laminated wood. The skin of the building was composed by a steel grids that cover all the boundary of the construction. Inside the steel cages where thrown travertine rocks. The sustainable concept was expressed by the use of local materials that can be found near the building site. By doing so the material and transportation costs considerably decrease. Furthermore, this kind of skin provide a series of eco-benefits. First, It can provide more inerthia termica, second it protect from rain water. Although there are benefits in the use of this particular skin system, there are some disvantages. The rocks insde the steel grids will host insects, wild plants and dirt. So it is necessary to prevent that with disinfestation and maintenance works.
